1. You can be well respected by others by conducting yourself positively, by your attitudes, behaviors and your actions. Here I like to share few important ways as to how you can be a well respected person:
2. In every field of work, the most highly regarded people are those who are the best at what they do. Everyone loves competent people especially those who present their best work all the time.
3. Respect is two way. If you want others to respect you, you have to respect others first.
4. No one likes a dishonest or unreliable person. I believe integrity is the first step to being your highest self. You always ensure - you live up to your commitments and deliver beyond what you promise.
5. Contrary to popular belief, being respected doesn't mean you won’t receive criticism. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The more known you are in your work, the more criticisms you are likely to receive. People respect someone who is able to handle negative feedback and turn it into something positive.
6. Act with utmost respect toward yourself. Your study habits, what you do with your spare time, what outside interests you have and many similar factors reveal what you think about yourself. If you don't respect yourself, you can't Hope to get respect from others. Start off by loving yourself. The love from others will come subsequently.
8. Whether it's in a professional or social setting, it's not appropriate to bad mouth people. You certainly don't earn respect this way. If you’re unhappy with a certain individual and what he/she is doing, talk to him/her and work things out. Don't talk behind his/her back.
9. Don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. At the same time, make sure you do it in a respectful manner to others.
10. Be yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. It's better to be an original version of yourself than an exact duplicate of someone else.
11. Actions speak louder than words. The most respected person is the one who inspires others to achieve their best and enables them to unlock their highest potential.
12. Take the initiative to handle your work. Do the responsible thing without having to be told or reminded to do so every time. Your attitude and behavior are two important factors in whether other people will respect you or not.
15. Start caring about others. Pay attention to your surroundings and the people in your life, whether it is at work, home or church. Genuinely caring about others and showing concern during times of need shows empathy, a powerful trait of good leadership. It also shows that you don't only focus on yourself and that you have the emotional capability to pay attention and give help to others when needed. Not everyone can do this which is why it is so powerful.
16. You can be inspiring by talking to others about your passions and goals without holding back. You can be inspiring by endlessly encouraging others to follow their dreams, goals and visions and showing that you have faith in them.
17. Don't always wait for direction from others. Use your own skills and resources to start getting things done and solve problems. Get in the habit of figuring things out for yourself. Don't be afraid of a challenge once in a while.
18. This is by far one of the most important actions you can take to start gaining respect. If you took commitments lightly in the past, don't do that anymore. Always honor commitments and promises. If you find yourself having a lot of trouble with that, it means you make too many promises that you can't keep.
19. If you respect others' time, yo will definitely get the respect in return. This includes not being late for appointments, not spending meetings talking about useless items. Getting to the point fast, bringing up issues right away, being succinct, and of course, making it easier for others to make decisions especially when they are busier than you.
20. You are not always going to be right. You are not the best at everything. Every person you meet can teach you something. Confidence does not come from a place where you are the best. True confidence comes from understanding humility and kindness. Every person has something unique to offer to the world that includes you.
21. Being open minded is not complicated nor is it in conflict with having a moral code. It simply means - you acknowledge that you still have so much to learn and you continue learning from others even if you have a strong core belief system.
22. Make sure to curb your instant reactions to things that make you highly emotional whether it is good or bad.It's Okay to be yourself and show enthusiasm. But remember that good leaders and well respected people know the difference between responding and reacting. The latter is not a good habit.
23. Understand that being kind, understanding, and compassionate in how you treat others is largely the result of having a loving and caring attitude towards others. Try to put yourself in others SHOES, and see things from their perspective.
